Jay Tose Interview

Jay Tose InterviewWhere were you born? Live?

Am from southeast London, U.K.

What motivated you to start singing?

I remember my first time finding myself attracted to music. I think I was maybe 4 or 5 years old. I have been always accustomed to music coming from an African background. But it was really when I first heard Michael Jackson's, REMEMBER THE TIMES; I found myself a fan of the art. I thought he was a female back then, might I add hahaha. But yeah, like I said I was probably around 4 or 5 yrs old when I found myself really enjoying music.

But it was when I was later introduced to Bone Thugs N Harmony that I decided I wanted to become just like them. I am quite certain it was the song Crossroads by Bone Thugs that triggered the artistic values in me and ever since I have been writing songs, recording, and rapping so I am definitely no stranger to music. I have now reached a level in my career where I can differentiate what I believe sounds good (good music) and what isn't. That's is why I am so confident in my craft and obtain the ability to turn thought ; feelings into music

How would you classify your music?

My music is hard to classify under one genre. I believe that I make universal music. Universal meaning, that I may specialize in rap /hiphop, but it definitely isn't the pillars behind my sound.Jay tose Interview I have learnt to appreciate all music and sound. Since a very early age I was exposed to different music genres and have never found myself discriminating music. My golden rule when it comes to music has always been ;If the song gets you moving any part of your body according to the music; then that's when you know what's good music or not.;

People that know me sometimes find themselves shocked at my choice of music as it is so diverse. I may go by the hip-hop culture but you can sometimes find me listening to the lights of Greenday, Bon Jovi, Queen, Celine Dion, Aerosmith, Youssou Ndour, Salif Keita, Omar Penn, Vybze Kartel, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, UB 40, The Sounds, Shania Twain, Leann Rhimes, Kenny Rogers, Boy George, and the list goes on.

I am very versatile in my taste of music and that pretty much explains my diverse sound which tends to attract a lot of music loving individuals to my music. I think that's what makes me stand out as far as music. The fact that I have my own sound, even though its rap/ hip-hop. I tend to blend different genres into my rap. For me it doesn't really matter what genre I put into my rap music but as long as it sounds good. My moto is: GOOD MUSIC SPEAKS FOR ITSELF! As far as the Caribbean sound in my accent I believe that is due to south London heritage as we have a lot of Jay Tose Jumpin VideoCaribbean influence in the urban British language.

So far, I have released a single and music video which I recorded in New York City, USA, sometime last year. The single is titled, JUMPIN and the music video can be found on YouTube Jay Tose.

Do you have any upcoming albums?

As a matter of fact I do. I will be releasing both my debut album and mixtape this year. As a treat for my fans I will release mixtape (Da Saga Begins) on free download as a token of gratitude for all the love and support my fans have been expressing worldwide. My debut album (The Mentality Of Todays Young n Gifted) will also be released later this year so expect good music from Jay Tose.

As I can assure that the music itself is totally mind-blowing. We @ AABT ENT tend to find ourselves impressed time after time even though we have heard most of the songs several timesjay Tose Music.

What record label are you signed with?

Right now I am currently signed to All About Big Things (AABT ENT.) Are there any specific clubs people can find you at? Well that's tricky question as I am a international artist and can be found traveling the world to do shows and attend events. So naming a club or a few would be doing injustice to other clubs that I have performed in and probably forgot to name in this interview.

Do you plan to come to the U.S. anytime soon?

Yes indeed, as a matter of fact we are planning on traveling to California this year to shoot the music video for another of my singles titled, PAPERCHASIN. More info I cannot yet reveal, as we tend to be quite secretive of our plans in AABT until they are executed. Don't ask me why haha, I call it keeping the haterz and the jealous in the dark and then surprise em when the lights turn on lol. Sadly enough I am not at liberty to reveal more on this project, but all I can say is that we will be working alongside a top American rap artist and we are all very excited and looking forward to this trip. ALL ABOUT BIG THINGS YA'LL

For the theme of the site.. what is you favorite brand clothing?

My style in clothing is as versatile as my style in music. I usually don't find myself being attracted to only one brand as I tend to blend and mix different brands to get the required look am looking for. I am very fashion conscious well in my own taste anyway. But I will say Dickies is a brand I tend to find myself buying every now and then. Big fan of Nike Air Force ones and Nike in general. haha I guess am weird like that. I don't really find myself lookin for brands but what I feel; I require instead. Ey, as long as a brother looking Fly, no one aint complaining haha.
